X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTERis a 1996crossoverfighting game developed byCapcom, released for arcades,Sega Saturn(Japan only), andPlayStation 1. In collaboration withMarvel Comics, this would be the third fighting game made by the joint companies. It was the first game to introduce 2-on-2 tag team fighting in theMarvel vs. Capcomseries, featuring characters fromX-MenandStreet Fighterrespectively. The game also introduced new mechanics such as Variable Combination and Variable Counter. The game'sintrois noteworthy for its iconic handshake between Ryu and Cyclops which has been parodied by fans.
