A character from theMario series, he is one of the sevenKoopalingsthat first appeared inSuper Mario Bros. 3. Morton appears in numerous platformers, serving as a world boss in one of the first seven worlds and also appears as a playable character in spin-offs, includingMario Kart 8andMario Kart Tour. Like his siblings, Morton uses hisshellto attack and can be defeated by jumping on his head three times. He uses ground pounds to stun the player and uses his magicwandto summon spells orspiked balls. InNew Super Mario Bros. U, he no longer has a wand and now uses a gianthammerfilled with magic. He is also the physically strongest of the Koopalings, though he isn't as powerful as some of his other brothers, likeLudwig von KoopaorRoy Koopa. Morton is depicted as rather simple-minded, being proudly more brawn than brains and is prone to temper tantrums. He likes to boast about his strength and often refers to himself in third-person. Like most of the Koopalings, he wearsspiked braceletson each arm and is the only Koopaling to not have ayellow skincomplexion, beinggreyinstead. He is also the largest of his siblings and has only three strands of hair, a greyspiked shell, abig mouthwith largefangsand astar-shaped birthmark over his left eye. He is named after Morton Downey Jr., a famed talk show host, actor and singer.
