Gaen Izuko is a mentor and leader of sorts to the other "oddity" specialists in theMonogatari series:Oshino Meme,Kaiki Deishuu,Kagenui Yozuru, andTeori Tadatsuru, who also comprised her "Occult Research Club" in college. She has a reputation for being powerful and knowledgeable in the series, and her catch phrase is "I know everything". She is the younger sister ofGaen Tooeand aunt ofKanbaru Suruga. Appearance-wise, she haslongbrown hairthat typicallycovers one of herbrown eyes. Her typical attire is hip-hop inspired, consisting of agreenandwhitebaseball capas ahat(oftenworn sideways), agreenoff-shouldert-shirt,red pants, and darkredflatsforshoes. For accessories, she usually wears redprayer beads, a yellowstar-shapedpendantnecklace, blackwristbands, orange and yellowheadphones(usuallyaround her neck), and carries multiplesmartphones.
